6. Reading activity ( ANOTHER OPTION)

Number task

Well, 
I think everyone has played this game, it's better known as "the movie game". 
In my school, when it rains too much, we stay in the classrooms to prevent the students from getting sick. One of the things I always have in class are the called "
Post it". One rainy day I stuck my name on the head of one of my pupils. How wonderful! Everyone started reading my name and saying it all the time. 

When I understood what was going on I put random words in the heads of several students. To my amazement, the motivation was growing more and more. Recess was over and everyone went back to their classes. 

Weeks later, having prepared the activity well, I wrote numbers from 0 to 100, such as: thirteen, nine, twenty, fifty-five and many more. This worked! I split the class into several groups and asked them to read what number their classmates had stuck on their heads. 

Since then, every free second we have in class, we use it to play this game. I have done it with several subjects and it is very useful. You can use numbers, animals, verbs, nouns and so on and so forth.

Teach in other language It is not easy, pupils are hearing words, sentences and number in a language that there are not understand. What do you thing if we swap de theory?

our dreams and play the video below of animals.
What do you have to do in this activity?
 First of all, introduce the activity to your students. Tell them that you are going to watch two videos, in the first one they will have to listen what kind of animals appear. In this way, we improve their listening. Once they have played the whole video, move on to the second link. Here, you will see the same video but, this time, the students will have to identify which animal it is.

Here you have the link for the Disney song. I hope you enjoy with that and go back to your childhood, haha. 

To be easier, you can hear the song many times and a postive thing is, that you already know the song in Spanish, so, I think that could be great!

What do you have to do in this activity? 

Taking advantage of the fact that the students know the song in Spanish, we motivate them to sing and we will can check their speaking. Once we have listened to the song twice, we ask them several questions, such as:

5. Reading activity.

MUSIC, DANCE AND PARTY!

Five hours It is pretty much time for kids, they are sitting on uncomfortable chairs and listening all the time something that, maybe, They are not want to hear it. What do you think if we quit the tables, and we create a dance floor?💃💃💃💃

Let they be relax, let they doing something that they love it! This song is not a simple song, it was a Hymn. And also they have subtitles to improve their reading. 

What do you have to do in this activity?

Very easy, go into the link (it is time to dance) and ask your students to read the subtitles. Once they are able to read the subtitles, you level up the task and ask them to dance and read at the same time. Are you able to do it?

Music and P.E !

Hello everybody,

I am very happy to be able to start this forum. I am not English teacher yet, but I am physical education teacher in English so I have many experience that I would like to comment. I love sport, I love teaching and in the same way I would like be able to teach my students to believe this feelings. ICTs. Everyday I use technologies (ICTs) such us: computers ,proyector, interactive white board, and do not forget INTERNET.

It give me many advantages on my classes because I cheer my students ups listening music, sharing music videoclips or some famous type of dancing. From five years ago I have been using music in my P.E classes, It gives me the opportunity to run my pupils. Students already know when they are not hearing music It is time to teacher's talk. And also, the motivation is growing up. In the beginning pupils does not feeling the music but, nowadays they are follow the rhythm of the music while they are playing. It is a fantastic tools and to improve this tool, sometimes I playing music videoclips but It is only when they are having a good behavior and It never happens, haha. So I give them a feedback: "If you are good I playing videoclips music".

I used to do the warm-up without music, but after Covid-19 I decided to play it if they brought me the song they wanted to listen to that week. It was amazing! The next day 80% of my students brought me their favourite song so I used the class list to play songs every week. The first one on the list would start by choosing. Today I can not imagine students warming up without music, it would seem like a different kind of class. For me this is my main advantage.

On the contrary, this tool has made me feel that students "need" music to do physical education. Sometimes we have to do the lesson outside the playground and I do not have music equipment. The pupils ask me for a song and a few of them are bored. Sometimes the internet is not working so I can not show the video clips. For me this would be the main disadvantage, new technologies have become essential in my physical education classes so when I don't use music, internet, projector, my students are not fully motivated. And when I say "my students" I mean 100%. What do you think? I hope you liked it, greetings to all of you.
